One of the friendliest staff that I encountered. Hotel staff went out of the way to make us feel at home. Always smiling. Always checking to see how they can make our stay even better.

Stayed in the quieter village of Kastraki but drove the short distance to adjoining larger town of Kalabaka to see the 11c Byzantine church.
The busier streets of Kalabaka are not overwhelming and offer a contrast to the gentler vibe of Kastraki.
Kalabaka is a commercial centre with busy streets and cafes, some of which continue the improper practice of caging songbirds for the ‘interest’ of customers!
We were pleased we stayed in Kastraki at the Doupiani House Hotel and appreciated the evening strolls through quiet jasmine-scented streets, where we were occasionally accompanied by wandering tortoises or inquisitive local cats.

Meteora was by far, one of our favorite places in Greece.
Meteora was by far, one of our favorite places in Greece. The landscape is unique and amazingly beautiful. The monasteries are incredible pieces of architecture, and the little churches inside, are real jewels of Byzantine art. The sites are really crowded and parking is not easy (and this was in May!!!) also, the churches are so small that sometimes queuing is necessary in order to access them. Even though we checked previously and carefully the opening times, two of the six monasteries could not be visited without any apparent reason, which was very inconvenient for us. The whole region is dedicated to tourism so great hotels and restaurants are everywhere.

The monasteries are lovely but the public transport (bus) to move around them is limited if you only want to visit one or two. Our time was limited so we took the 9am bus up to the main meteron monastery and walked down to Varlaam and Rossenou (St Barbara) convent. We were finished here by 12 but had to walk back to Kalambaka as there was no bus until 14:30 and we had a bus to catch for our onward journey. We walked down to Kastraki and had a quick bite and walked on to Kalambaka. It was an easy walk and took about 40 mins but this was in April so not too hot.

Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.
First, I want to start with the staff. They were very, very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is situated near the city center with acces to everything you need (stores, supermarkets, tavernas, cafes).
The room was very clean. They changed the towels daily. We als had a spacious balcony with an incredible view to Meteora.
When we will return to Kalabaka, for sure Hotel Kaikis will be top on our list of accomodations.
The best hotel in Greece! Kastraki is the most beautiful village and this is the best hotel there! The room was gorgeous, the staff so welcoming and friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was incredible. They served the most delicious Greek food, and lots of it! I can’t wait to go back. I’ve stayed in many nice hotels around the US and other countries, and this was by far my favorite!
One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed, and I have traveled the world. excellent views, simple but elegant accommodations with balconies, and a wonderful patio with views of Meteora for breakfast. This hotel prides itself on the locally-produced food that they offer in their excellent buffet. the whole experience was magical.
This hotel was perfect for a trip to Meteora monasteries, free parking, close to everything, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was big, breakfast was very good. We were with a dog, which was welcomed very warmly. We had to pay 12€/night for the dog, but it was written that there might be a fee for it, so not surprised.
The hotel is brand new so everything is fresh and clean. The studio was excellent for us, with two balconies featuring outstanding Meteora views. Nice elevator made it suitable for my disabled husband, as did the shower. Hot water available at all times. Nicely equipped kitchenette. Vieatsa was very helpful.
Beautiful hotel, with spacious, rich rooms, exactly as in the photos. Perfect complement to the grand and lofty setting of Meteora, and an excellent base for your stay. Well located, 15 minutes from the train station on foot, and right at the start of the hiking path up to the holy trinity monastery.
The staff is very nice, the girl at the reception gave us a homemade map with meteor monasteries and all the necessary information, which was very useful! The hotel is very nice, pleasant, near the city center and the main attraction - Meteora. Very sad we only had one night at this hotel.
The location, view, earthy decor, friendly staff and super comfortable beds. Oikia was the best hotel we have stayed in during our four week vacation in Greece. Early morning hike to Varlaam monastery was amazing!!!
Thank you for the travel tips and complimentary cappuccinos:)
View was exceptional - one of the best in Greece (and that is hard to do!). The staff/owner was very helpful in organizing our visit to Meteora and finding the most wonderful tavernas to try while we stayed there. We could not have asked for a more special place to stay.
What a wonderful little hotel to stay to visit Meteora right in the town if Kalabaka and close to restaurants etc. Room was nice and clean and has beautiful bathroom. The host was so wonderful and assisted us with directions etc and provided excellent breakfast. Thank you
First of all the hostel was very clean . Also owner of the hotel very helpful person even he gave me skirt for the wear during the meteora tour :) 15 minutes walk from the train station and the bus staion for to go meteora just across the hostel
Very nice place thank you
The best property I have stayed during my two week holiday in Greece. The apartment has a very classy decoration and two balconies with a stunning view to Meteora. Also, Efi is very kind and hospitable to the visitors. Definitely recommend it :)
The location was amazing for exploring Kalabaka and Meteora. Dita was very helpful with directions to the hotel from the train station, and the map was a very nice guide to refer to when trying to visit the area and monasteries on your own.
Good location in Kalambaka close to the road leading to the monasteries. Tasty breakfast - restaurant also overlooking Meteoras. Great room, large bathroom, shower larger than any bathroom I rented in Greece :) In hotel is a large parking.
I liked everything about the hotel - the location was excellent - right next to the central square, and a short walk to the train station. The room was great, wi-fi was good. The breakfast option was reasonably good.
The hotel is lovely, our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Decorated with taste. Lovely terrace. Staff were very nice and the location was perfect with great views of the Meteora. Perfect stay!
I WAS HESITANT ABOUT TAKING THE TRIP TO METEORA MAINLY BECAUSE IT WAS GOING TO TAKE 2 DAYS OUT OF THE TRIP. SO HAPPY WE DID AND HOTEL DOUPIANI WAS AMAZING. BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND PEOPLE.
